General summary: Provide tactical project management leadership and oversight to drive the timely completion of Carrier Ethernet service delivery activities.

General Summary: Responsible for design and oversight of the engineering, maintenance and construction of inside or outside plant network, which may include activities related to new facilities or modifying existing facilities.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Perform remote connectivity activities on newly installed equipment prior to equipment being sent to customer premise.
• Prepare and conduct meetings prior to implementation to ensure all aspects of the project are covered. Follow progress of all projects and provide management with all project status’ on a weekly basis.

· Coordinated and managed a team of engineers and drafters to prepare outside plant engineering work orders, inside plant detailed engineering designs and RF distribution designs related to video services for Verizon's Mid-Atlantic FTTP project.

· Ensured designs met specified criteria, ensured that critical milestone dates were met, and resolved issues and barriers while leading a cross functional/organizational team.

· Managed subcontractor personnel in the planning and construction of MDU inside plant cabling and pathway.

· Managed subcontractor personnel in the process of obtaining inventory of all ISDN, Analog, and Point to Point data circuits at DC State Government locations.

· Ensured that the subcontractor personnel properly identified, located, verified and documented: carrier demark block, cable pairs, circuit identification numbers, circuit device types, telephone numbers, terminating points, phone features and owning agency information. 

· Conducted frequent conference calls with MCI management, subcontractors and customer agencies to discuss updated status information, scheduling issues, and projected work dates.

· Made site visits to ensure the sites were ready for transition and that all necessary labor, methods, procedures, equipment and systems were in place, tested and operational prior to implementing the cutover services.

· Managed subcontractor personnel in physical cutover process to MCI services and supervised subcontractor personnel in troubleshooting any service line outages caused by the transition process.

· Used Outside Plant Engineering Guidelines & Policy Directives, planning documents, field notes (self prepared or other) and multiple databases (TIRKS, LFACS, WFA, ICGS, VBuild) to analyze data and prepare specific estimates, routine work orders and/or other-defined projects for growth, relief, customer demand, and damaged plant in the outside plant network.

· Performed physical field visits to identify incorrect or unsafe conditions and design proper corrective plant configurations.

· Tracked and monitored construction and other departments, which may have included contractors, to assure timely completion of the engineering work orders and plans issued.

· Used multiple databases (examples are RequestNet, OSP-FM, AARDWOLF, and LFACS) to ensure timely customer satisfaction of provisioning issues.

· Utilized computer assisted drafting tools such as MicroStation, and Visio, where available.

· Negotiated, coordinated and communicated outside plant engineering matters, including permit applications and rights of way, with Verizon field forces, private owners, customers, building contractors, utilities and government agencies.

· Researched rights of way and deed and property information, as well as related information in courthouses, libraries, and other locations.

 

Central Office Technician/ Network Operations                                                                     

 

· Surveiled the entire Mid-Atlantic transport / carrier network to ensure network performance quality and survivability.

· Acted as tier I Technical support for Bell Atlantic testers/ technicians in customer trouble reporting centers.

· Remotely accessed, provisioned, edited and otherwise configured various SONET multiplexers, digital cross connect machines, and DWDM’s through the use of TL1 machine language.
